Consider the hands-on activity involving the assembly and use of the Galileoscope, a small working telescope developed especially for IYA2009. If you are interested in this activity, please contact Dave Chapman for details.

In the workshop, students Grades 6–12 work cooperatively in up to 6 groups of 2–3 to assemble a small telescope from component parts, then they take them outside (or point them through a window) to view distant objects, normally in the daytime. The entire workshop takes about 90 minutes, winding up with a general astro Q&A session.

Sorry! These kits have become irreplaceable, so the schoool or group cannot keep them!
