Luigi Gallo to Lead Canadian X-ray Telescope Team

 

Prof. Luigi Gallo of Saint Mary's Astronomy and Physics department has been apointed to lead the Canadian science team on the Japanese-lead Astro-H X-ray telescope project.

 

 

Dr. Gallo, 38, was officially named Principal Investigator for the Canadian contribution to the Astro-H space mission by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) in early August. Two other Canadian experts, Dr. Brian McNamara of the University of Waterloo and Dr. Samar-Safi-Harb of the University of Manitoba, were named to contribute to this important international astronomy mission.
